Interior decorator, and entrepreneur, Liette Tousignant started Under the Roof Decorating (UTR) in 1996 with a simple philosophy – to help people redecorate their homes using their own accessories. Her design business quickly gained public recognition due to her innovative and affordable approach to decorating.

One of Liette’s most challenging and time-consuming decorating tasks was hanging pictures perfectly without creating a bunch of holes in the walls. This problem had Liette looking for a tool – ANY tool – that could help her do the job right the first time. Realizing that nothing was available, Liette and her husband Kelly Krake invented their own picture hanging tool, Hang and Level™.

Under the Roof Decorating introduced the Hang & Level in 2006 and quickly saw success with major North American retailers.
